Tosca

  • Oklahoma City Civic Center - Freede Little Theatre (map)

Shocking and bold, the powerful story and music of Tosca has captivated audiences for more than 110 years.  Puccini’s opera about the fiery diva Tosca and her battle against the fiendish police chief Scarpia is one of his masterworks along with La bohème and Madama Butterfly.  Ideal for newcomers to opera as well as long-time enthusiasts, Tosca combines a fast-moving plot with exhilarating music to accelerate into one of opera’s most exciting experiences.

Celebrated diva Floria Tosca lives for art and love and has found both of those in the painter Cavaradossi.  However, her lover has dangerous friends and finds himself in the clutches of the police chief Scarpia, who wants both Tosca’s affections as well as information on the revolution.  Tosca must figure out how to free Cavaradossi while resisting the advances of Scarpia.

Performance is in Italian with English supertitles with orchestra.
